Assessment after six months of killing
After more than six months of conflict right now, human associations say about 2'700 people have been killed. Let's remind ourselves that these 2'700 are only the ones whose death has been official, many more have simply disappeared and some others just died without anyone being able to report it officially. What will the UNO do now ? With Russia encouraging dialogue between the government and the opposition (it already happened last week, and it was a dialogue between president Assad and his own people, and not the opposition) it becomes hard for the UN Council to make decisions on which everyone agrees. Les Syriens ne sont à l'abris nulle part, comme on a déjà pu le voir avec l'attaque de manifestants syriens à Paris par des diplomates eux aussi syriens. De même, en début août a eu lieu au Liban une attaque à l'arme blanche contre des manifestants qui protestaient pacifiquement devant l'ambassade syrienne à Beyrouth. A little more history
I started reading again articles about how these events began in Syria and it wouldn't be a bad thing to remind some of us how it all started. We all think everything began the 15th March in Damascus, when activists gave flyers for a demonstration in favor of the release of the political prisonners in Syria, demonstration that took place the 16th March. This very day, 33 people were arrested, including 10 women. The best known of them were Mazen Darwish and Suhair Atassi. The 33 of them started a hunger strike the 19th that lasted until the syrian people started going out to demonstrate. But the events started earlier in March in fact, by the arrestation in Daraa of 15 children who had written slogans of the tunisian and egyptian revolution on walls ; these children were tortured even though their families tried to get them out of prison (one of them, Ahmed Sami Abazeid, is still in jail right now). The first demonstration of the syrian revolution took place the 18th March and it was attented mostly by these children's family members ; the rest of the country followed.

J'ai recommencé à lire des articles à propos des premiers événements de la révolution syrienne, en mars, et ça ne serait pas une mauvaise idée de faire partager ces informations. La majorité d'entre nous pense que tout a commencé le 15 mars à Damas, lorsque des activistes ont distribué des flyers pour leur manifestation en faveur de la libération des prisonniers politiques en Syrie, manifestation qui a eu lieu le 16 mars. Ce jour-ci, 33 personnes ont été arrêtées, dont 10 femmes. Les plus connus d'entre eux sont Mazen Darwish et Suhair Atassi. Ils ont tous commencé une grève de la faim le 19 mars, grève qui a duré jusqu'à ce que le peuple syrien sorte manifester. En réalité, tout a débuté plus tôt dans le mois de mars, avec l'arrestation à Daraa de 15 enfants qui avaient écrit les slogans des révolutions égyptienne et tunisienne sur des murs ; ces enfant ont été torturés bien que leurs familles aient essayé de les faire sortir de prison (l'un d'entre eux, Ahmed Sami Abazeid, s'y trouve toujours aujourd'hui). La première manifestation de la révolution syrienne a eu lieu le vendredi 18 mars et c'est principalement des membres des familles de ces enfants qui s'y sont rendus ; le reste du pays a suivi.
