Arab League After the Arab League had given 3 more days to Syria to stop the violence, Syria announced to the Arab League the government would let observers in (a 500-member mission), under 18 conditions. These conditions include : the observers must be government officials ; the observers can't get in touch with syrian people ; the observers can't go into hospitals ; the observers can't go into prisons ; each of the observers must send a CV to Syria ; Syria can deny access to any observer ; ... And so on. The Arab League refused the conditions. Syria's situation will be discussed during UNO's General Assembly on Tuesday. Today was Friday of "Expulsion of syrian embassadors" Arab League The Arab League gave three more days to Assad to stop violence in Syria. Tomorrow, the 18th November will be the last one, we'll see what happens then (it already is the third ultimatum the Arab League presents the Assad regime with). Nabil Al Arabe, general secretary of the Arab League, has received threats from the shabbihas (Assad's thugs) during this last delay. The Arab League About two weeks ago, Assad promised the Arab League he would stop the slaughter in Syria. He didn't stand by his promise, which led the Arab League to suspend Syria's membership. Assad then demanded an emergency meeting, wanting to reverse this decision. But the Arab League needed the agreement of 14 countries to let this meeting take place ; but Assad's security forces attacked some embassies, pissing these countries off. Some of them, like France and Germany, already wihdrew their ambassadors [Finally !!! We have asked for this for so long !]. The problem is that almost none of the Arab countries wants to recognize the Syrian National Council, pretending it's too early. Don't they want to give the SNC a chance to show what it's capable of ? Let's add to this that China and Russia didn't change their mind concerning the Security Council suggestion to sanction Syria... When journalist Ignace Leverrier was asked what Assad could do to c

Homs RT Khaled elEkhetyar (@freelancitizen) "While the Arab World woke up to celebrate the religious feast of Eid with their families and relatives, the people of Homs woke up to another day of heavy shelling and shooting of anti-aircraft bullets by artilleries, tanks, and armoured units. Baba Amr continues to endure a complete siege with no food, basic supplies, baby milk, or medicine allowed in ; not even water. Water service, electricity and communications have also been completely cut off. Checkpoints located in different neighbourhoods and suburbs of Homs continue to fire randomly at homes and passersby in order to terrorize residents. The city has officially been declared a Disaster Zone by the Syrian National Council. Nonetheless, demonstrations still took place in most neighbourhoods and suburbs of Homs." About a month after the creation of the SNC, Tunisia finally recognized it ; it only is the second country to do so, after Libya. Next step to show support to the syrian revolution is to recognize the SNC as the official representative of the syrian people. Arab League The Arab League called for the end of the slaughter, the release of all prisoners, the opening of the borders to let international medias and arab observers in, and a national dialogue ; the syrian government finally said yes. The next day the death toll doubled in Homs, some prisoners were released but more than 2'000 people were arrested in the area of Damascus.
