The Arab League About two weeks ago, Assad promised the Arab League he would stop the slaughter in Syria. He didn't stand by his promise, which led the Arab League to suspend Syria's membership. Assad then demanded an emergency meeting, wanting to reverse this decision. But the Arab League needed the agreement of 14 countries to let this meeting take place ; but Assad's security forces attacked some embassies, pissing these countries off. Baba Amr continues to endure a complete siege with no food, basic supplies, baby milk, or medicine allowed in ; not even water.
