UN monitoring mission - Mission des observateurs de l'ONU

Here you can watch 25 minutes of film to discuss the utility or not of the monitoring mission in Syria, when we all know it won't work. Even Kosovo in 1999 got more UN aid than we did : they got 3500 armed (police)men, they're only 2 millions. We're 23 millions and we only get 30 unarmed observers. So far they're only 8 (6 at first), the others are yet to come ; their former chief, Novergian General Mood, has already quitted, saying he'd never ever come back to Syria. He's been replaces by the Marrocan Colonel Himmiche. A resolution to send 250 observers is yet to be voted by the UN, but Switzerland has already announced it was ready to send six men.

Français : Un film de 25 minutes (dont vous trouvez le lien dans la partie en anglais) a été fait pour discuter de l'utilité ou non d'une mission d'obervateurs en Syrie, alors que nous savons tous qu'elle ne va pas marcher. Même le Kosovo en 1999 a reçu plus d'aide de l'ONU que nous : ils ont accueilli 3500 hommes armés (pour faire la police), ils ne sont que 2 millions. Nous sommes 23 millions et n'avons obtenu que 30 observateurs non-armés. Jusque là ils ne sont que 8, 6 au départ, les autres doivent encore arriver ; leur chef initial, le général norvégien Mood, a déjà démissionné, disant qu'il ne reviendrait jamais en Syrie. Il a été remplacé par le colonel marrocain Himmiche. Une résolution qui permettrait d'envoyer 250 observateurs doit encore être votée à l'ONU, mais la Suisse a déjà annoncé qu'elle était prête à envoyer 6 hommes.

Yesterday, the 17th of April, was the 66th anniversary of the Syrian independence ; people were invited to write "STOP" on a white paper between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to commemorate this. A lot of people took part to the event, you can find some pictures on this website and this facebook page. Today, 18th April, is the first anniversary of the peaceful Sit-In that occured last year in Homs and where a lot of people disappeared and were killed ; lots of people twitted #HomsSitIn in remembrance of that event. Idlib's being bombed as roughly as Homs was and still is, so let's forget about the cease-fire, those who believed in it were fools and those who still think we can talk with Assad and his regime are even fooler.

Français : Hier, le mardi 17 avril, était le 66ème anniversaire de l'indépendance syrienne ; les gens étaient invités à écrire "STOP" sur un papier blanc entre 7h et 7h30 pour commémorer cet événement. Beaucoup de personnes ont participé, vous pouvez trouver des images sur ce site web et cette page facebook. Aujourd'hui, le 18 avril, c'est le premier anniversaire du Sit-In pacifique qui a eu lieu à Homs l'année passée et où beaucoup de gens ont disparu ou été tués ; beaucoup ont twitté #HomsSitIn en souvenir de cet événement. Sinon Idleb se fait maintenant bombarder aussi durement que Homs l'a été et continue de l'être, alors oublions cette histoire de cessez-le-feu, ceux qui y ont cru étaient des fous et ceux qui pensent encore que l'on peut discuter avec Assad et son régime sont encore plus fous.

Omar, the two-year-old Syrian hero - Omar, le héros syrien de 2 ans

You may have noticed that one little boy appeared on a lot of videos of protests against the regime, and you may have noticed he was always singing revolutionnary slogans. It's Omar, a little boy from Homs whose mom was killed and whose father was arrested ; he now lives in Egypt with his uncle because of health problems. But even from there, he still gives a lot of us bravery enough to go on. Here he is singing, as always, revolutionnary slogans.

Français : Vous avez probablement remarqué qu'un petit garçon apparaissait sur beaucoup de vidéos de manifestations contre le régime, et vous avez probablement remarqué qu'il chantait tout le temps des slogans pro-révolution. C'est Omar, un petit garçon de Homs dont la mère a été tuée et dont le père a été arrêté ; il habite maintenant en Egypte avec son oncle à cause de problèmes de santé. Mais même depuis là-bas, il nous donne encore le courage de continuer. Le voici ici, chantant comme toujours des slogans pro-révolution.
