The Arab League About two weeks ago, Assad promised the Arab League he would stop the slaughter in Syria. He didn't stand by his promise, which led the Arab League to suspend Syria's membership. Assad then demanded an emergency meeting, wanting to reverse this decision. But the Arab League needed the agreement of 14 countries to let this meeting take place ; but Assad's security forces attacked some embassies, pissing these countries off. Some of them, like France and Germany, already wihdrew their ambassadors [Finally !!! We have asked for this for so long !]. The problem is that almost none of the Arab countries wants to recognize the Syrian National Council, pretending it's too early. Don't they want to give the SNC a chance to show what it's capable of ? Homs RT Khaled elEkhetyar (@freelancitizen) "While the Arab World woke up to celebrate the religious feast of Eid with their families and relatives, the people of Homs woke up to another day of heavy shelling and shooting of anti-aircraft bullets by artilleries, tanks, and armoured units. Baba Amr continues to endure a complete siege with no food, basic supplies, baby milk, or medicine allowed in ; not even water. Water service, electricity and communications have also been completely cut off. Checkpoints located in different neighbourhoods and suburbs of Homs continue to fire randomly at homes and passersby in order to terrorize residents.
