On June 21st, the first Syrian pilot defected by flying to Jordan, where he was granted asylum. Three others followed, one Lieutenant Colonel and two colonels. On June 22nd, a turkish jet flying over the Syrian territory was shot down by the Syrian army without any warning, which was considered an attack by Nato and Turkey. Turkey warned Syria to keep its troups away from the border and that any suspicion of an attack of any kind would lead to an armed response ; military are now being sent to the border.
A Russian ship carrying Mi25 helicopters, also called flying tanks, to Syria has been stopped by Britain, but apparently Syria is yet to get more weaponry from Russia. Otherwise Burhan Ghalioun, former president of the Syrian National Council, went to Syria for the first time in more than 2 years in order to visit and support the opposition. A pro-regime TV was attacked, fact that I'm not commenting until more is known about the attack. Two blasts hit Damascus on June 28th. Then there was a slaughter in Douma on June 29th, at least 51 people died. The following day at least 38 others followed.
On June 30th, an action group is meeting in Geneva to talk about Syria ; Kofi Annan has made sure he's invited all the permanent members of the UN, including Russia and China, who vetoed the last resolutions, making sure this meeting won't lead to anything decisive. Syrians were planning to protest by marching to the United Nations in Geneva, passing before the Russian embassy, the Human Rights building,... but the municipality didn't authorize it, forcing the demonstrators to change their route. How bad could it be to protest in front of buildings really ? Where has gone freedom of speech ? Would it hurt anyone, people shouting, protesting in front of buildings where other people are talking while Syrians get killed ? And as we're talking about talks, I'm letting you know that rumors say than Annan is about to suggest a new plan that would include creating a new interim government which some people of Assad's administration could be part of. How could Syrians possibly accept that after all these slaughters ? It's not time for reforms anymore, it's not time for sanctions either (yes, the US and Australia have introduced new sanctions). Maybe it's time to listen to Syrians. And they've been asking for help for a long time now, a very very long time. Humanitarian help, medical aid, no-fly zones, buffer zones,... and instead of thinking of a military intervention, maybe we'd better help the opposition, and the Free Syrian Army, they know the situation better than us.

Français : Le 1er juin, le premier pilote syrien a défecté en s'envolant vers la Jordanie, où on lui a accordé le droit à l'asile. Trois autres ont suivi, un Lieutenant Colonel et deux colonels. Le 22 juin, un jet turc qui volait au-dessus du territoire syrien a été descendu par l'armée syrienne sans aucun préavis, ce qui a été considéré comme une attaque par l'OTAN et la Turquie. La Turquie a prévenu la Syrie qu'elle devait garder ses troupes à distance de la frontière et que tout suspicion d'attaque de quelconque forme mènerait à une réponse armée ; des convois armés sont maintenant envoyés à la frontière.
Un bateau russe transportant des hélicoptères Mi25, également appelés tanks volants, en Syrie a été arrêté par la Grande-Bretagne, mais apparemment la Syrie va encore recevoir de l'armement de Russie. Sinon Burhan Ghalioun, le précédent président du Conseil National Syrien, est allé en Syrie pour la première fois depuis plus de 2 ans afin de visiter et soutenir l'opposition. Une télévision pro-régime a été attaquée, ce que je ne commente pas avant d'avoir plus d'informations. Deux explosions ont touché Damas le 28 juin. Puis il y a eu un massacre à Douma le 29 juin, au moins 51 personnes ont été tuées. Au moins 38 autres ont suivi le jour suivant.
Le 30 juin, un groupe d'action se rencontre à Genève pour parler de la Syrie ; Kofi Annan a pris la peine d'inviter tous les membres permanents de l'ONU, dont la Russie et la Chine, qui ont mis leur veto aux précédentes résolutions, nous assurant donc que cette rencontre ne mènera à aucune décision significative. Des Syriens avaient décidé de protester en marchant jusqu'aux Nations Unies à Genève, passant devant l'ambassade russe, le bâtiment des droits de l'homme,... mais la municipalité ne l'a pas autorisé, les obligeant à changer leur trajet. Est-ce que c'est vraiment si mal de protester devant des bâtiments ? Où est passée la liberté d'expression ? Est-ce que ça blesserait qui que ce soit de les laisser crier, protester devant des bâtiments où d'autres parlent pendant que les Syriens se font tuer ? A ce propos, des rumeurs disent que Annan va proposer un nouveau plan qui inclut la création d'un nouveau gouvernement d'intérim duquel pourraient faire partie des membres de l'administration d'Assad. Comment les Syriens pourraient-ils accepter ça après tous ces massacres ? Il n'est plus temps pour des réformes, il n'est plus temps pour des sanctions non plus (oui, les Etats-Unis et l'Australie ont introduit de nouvelles sanctions). Il serait peut-être temps d'écouter les Syriens. Ils ont demandé de l'aide depuis longtemps maintenant, très longtemps. De l'aide humanitaire, médicale, des zones d'exclusion aériennes, des zones tampon,... et à la place de penser à intervenir militairement, peut-être ferions-nous mieux d'aider l'opposition et l'Armée Syrienne Libre, ils connaissent la situation mieux que nous.
