STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH SYRIA : here

Zeinab Al-Hosni

Zeinab Al-Hosni was the girl whose body was given back to her family without any head, arms, legs and skin, unrecognizable. Or at least that's what the authorities said to the family, who had to swear they wouldn't film her body and had to bury her discreetly. But she recently appeared on the syrian TV ! The body was someone else's ! There's a family, somewhere in Syria, who will never get to know what happened to their daughter because the syrian authorities decide to discredit the opposition by showing the international community the opposition was lying. But it only shows what horrors they're able to do.

Security Council's resolution vetoed

The Security Council voted a resolution warning Assad that if in a month he hadn't stopped the slaughter there would be sanctions ; they let Assad a month to finish killing the syrian people. This wasn't a big step, it was better than nothing but still... Yet China and Russia vetoed the resolution, Russia's government wanted to give Assad a chance to complete the reforms he promised he would do (he's promised it for months and all he's done is talking with his own people, not even the opposition). Not doing anything is conniving with Assad, it's participating to the slaughter. Maybe UNO should start thinking about deleting the veto...! More here and here. Good picture here.

Al Rastan and Talbisseh

These two towns are now surrounded for a week ; electricity, water, internet and phone connections have been cut and it is impossible to bring food to the people living there. These towns and the villages around were fired with shells and showered with pesticids, a lot of houses were destroyed ; at least 20 children and 15 women died. It reminds me of what happened in Daraa at the beginning of the revolution...

Syrian National Council

Burhan Ghalioun, syrian activist in France, will probably soon be the chairman of the National Council. This is good news :) !

New embassy in Austria

Syrian people created the "Embassy of syrian people" in Vienna. This embassy actually is in a tent about 50 meters from the "Embassy of Syria", but what a good idea is that ! See a picture here.

Women kidnapping

The niece of Burhan Ghalioun, chairman of the Syrian National Council, has been kidnapped the 3rd October and released the 4th October. The psychanalyst Rafah Nached is in jail for almost a month now, and her health worsened. This has to stop, taking revenge on the family of the activists is absolutely not acceptable ! Besides, in arabic families women are holy : the men never let anyone hurt them. By kidnapping, raping and torturing the activists' sisters, mothers, daughters and cousins and by kidnapping any woman they choose on the streets, the security forces and the shabbihas are exacerbating the protestors. In Homs, where the violence was bigger than in other places, some people have already started fighting back against them, with weapons and anything they find. In Al Rastan, the army dissidents shot back at the security forces with their rifles. It's getting less and less peaceful everyday...
